| At the end of the
2nd year of the Novitiate, a Sister makes her First Profession of Holy Vows. She freely chooses to vow to God to live in poverty, chastity, and obedience for one year.
Her Vows are accepted by the Church and her community at a public ceremony during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. She then
receives the
black veil, the profession crucifix,which she wears on her right side,
and the Monstrance pendant, as a reminder of the
life she has chosen to live by the grace of God. She
renews her vows each year for the next 5 years.

The 8 years of formation culminate in the beautiful ceremony of Solemn Vows, when the Sister freely chooses, with the help of God's grace,to give herself totally to God for all eternity.During the ceremony, she prostrates under a pall to signify her death to the world and all it holds.She makes her Vows, this time for her entire lifetime,and then recieves the Wedding Band as a symbol of her eternal covenant with God.From this day on, she is a full member of the community and a Bride of Christ forever! |
