In the 13th century, Our Lord chose this holy man of God to bring about a new spring-time of renewal in the Church. Thousands of men joined his band of Friars Minor, who embraced a life of radical poverty and simplicity, their rule of life being the Holy Gospel. The Friars quickly spread throughout the world and traveled the countryside preaching the Gospel to all and bringing the people closer to Jesus Christ. At the very heart of this movement lay the Poor Clares.  |
